Dickson’s legacy projects go global

Youths in Bayelsa state have started to discover their talents in order to be self-reliant and contribute meaningfully to the development of the state as a result of the movie titled: ‘January 28’.

 At the official launch of the movie which was premiered  at the Nostalgia Cinemas, Yenagoa, young  men and women successfully showcased their talents.

Speaking at the function, the  Bayelsa state Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Mr Godwin Konyefa described the movie as first of its kind in the Niger Delta, as it X rays the developmental programs of Governor Seriake Dickson.

He said, “The movie showcases the various Bayelsa talents in the creative industry and it is geared towards celebrating the achievements of the ‘Restoration Government’.”

The executive producer and script writer, Mr Michael Afenfia commended the cast and crew for their painstaking roles in making the block buster movie a reality.

He said,” I was motivated to embark on the script writing and production of this movie due to the impact of the policies and programs of the ‘Restoration Government’ on the lives of the people of Bayelsa state.

 Youths should not depend solely on government”.

Another lead character who played the role of the Governor of Bayelsa state, Mr Izonrite Innocent said Bayelsa youths are endowed with various talents and when properly harnessed could change their fortunes from the erroneously perceived militancy to productive entrepreneurs and employers of labour.

Director of the movie, Mr Husayn Zaguru and another lead character who is a renowned Nollywood actor, Mr Columbus Irisonga applauded the efforts and vision of Mr Afenfia, the initiator of the movie for dramatising the ‘Restoration Government’s achievements on screen. He called on government at all levels to create the enabling environment for talents to strive.

He also appealed to government to invest in the movie industry which he described as a lucrative venture that can create employment opportunity for the teeming youths.  He advised youths to key into the concept of the movie to enrich their lives and also change the narratives for better.
