Dike undergoes successful surgery

Bright Dike has successfully undergone surgery to treat his injured Achilles tendon which shelved his 2014 World Cup preparations.

The power-playing Toronto FC forward was effectively ruled out of the World Cup after injuring his Achilles tendon in training with the MLS side on Monday. A day the player described as the ‘worst day’ of his life.

“Surgery went well I’m blessed to receive so many kind words. I thank God for the people around me. Now I’m passing out for at least 10 hours,” Dike Tweeted early yesterday morning.

Before the setback, the player was looking forward to establish himself both at club and international level having been side-lined by injury for most parts of last season.
