Discipline, hygiene: Police to reintroduce barracks inspection

In a bid to check the discipline of its officers and men as well as their hygiene level, the Nigeria Police Force in collaboration with the Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA) is to reintroduce the culture of barracks inspection.
The Inspector General of Police, acting IGP Ibrahim Idris, stated this while playing host to the management team and executive of POWA and the Police Wives Association (PWA) at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.
He said that the police management team would give all support need to the association to embark on the inspection which was a previous practice of the Force.
Idris who pledged support to the association on its on-going projects including schools and hospitals, disclosed that the audit report for the police investments would be ready this week and the police management team would implement the recommendations.
He noted that the reason for the audit was to ensure that the investments of the officers and men of the Force are protected and their welfare, catered for and assured POWA that the welfare of the police officers and their families are of great importance to the Force.
Earlier, the POWA president, Princess Asmau Idris, said that they were at the Force Headquarters to congratulate the IGP on his appointment and seek police support in welfare of the wives of policemen.
While emphasizing on the welfare of its members, the POWA president, urged the police management to look into the gratuity of the deceased officers as their spouses are in dire need of the funds after losing their husbands and breadwinners.
