Dogara assists victims of Bauchi windstorm

Speaker, House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, yesterday donated building materials to the victims of the recent windstorm which killed three persons and destroyed houses and schools in 11 villages of Duguri district in Alkaleri local government area of the state.
The Speaker, represented by a member of Bauchi state Assembly, Aminu Mohammed Tukur, who said items donated include 300 bags of cement and 100 bundles of zinc, explained that the gesture was aimed at bringing succour to the victims.
While commiserating with the victims and families of those who lost their lives as a result of the disaster, Dogara advised residents ofthe area to plant more trees and avoid unnecessary deforestation inorder to forestall future recurrences.
Responding, the District Head of Duguri, Alhaji Ibrahim Y.
M Baba, represented by his council member, Alhaji Ibrahim Sarki Yaki, whoreceived the items on behalf of the beneficiaries, expressed appreciation to the speaker for the gesture, saying it would help in reducing the pains of the victims.
He revealed that, aside the houses and schools, the windstorm also destroyed over 100 electric poles, thereby disconnecting the area from the national grid.
Baba assured the speaker that the items would be fairly distributed to beneficiaries and called on other well to do individuals to also assist.
