Dogara lied over 1, 200 ghost workers in Bauchi – Danmaliki

Speaker of the House of Representatives Yakubu Dogara has been accused
of lying to Nigerians by making allegations that the Bauchi state
Governor Mohammed Abubakar has stolen public funds to the tune of N400
billion through engagement of ghost workers in the payroll of workers
in the Bauchi state civil service.

The accusation was made by the Acting Director General of Governor
Mohammed Abubakar’s 2019 campaign organization, Aminu Mohammed
Danmaliki in a press statement issued Monday in Bauchi.

According to him, the then Bauchi state government has placed an
embargo since 2013 on staff employment by the administration of former
Governor Isa Yuguda, which is still in force.

“No fresh appointment has been made by the current government of M. A
Abubakar till date. The question of employment of 1, 200 staff was
false and malicious,” he said.

He admitted that there were over 1, 000 teachers recruited by the
former administration ‘who were not placed on pay roll until the
present administration came into being’.

He revealed that Abubakar inherited a workforce of 105, 000 civil
servants for both state and local governments as well as pensioners
whose total monthly salaries had been within the range of N5.1 billion
to N5.2 billion.

” By simple arithmetic, in the years of the present administration,
the entire salaries stood  at N5.2 billion monthly for 42 months
making a total of N218, 400, 000, 000.00 billion. Where did he sourced
the sum of N400 billion alleged to have been paid to workers within
the same period?” he queried.
