Dogara resigned officially from PDP – Spokesperson

The ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Bauchi state has stated that the former speaker of the house of representatives and member representing Dass, Tafawa Balewa and Bogoro local governments Yakubu Dogara has officially resigned from the party.

State PDP publicity secretary Yayanuwa Zainabari stated this while reacting to the pronouncement by the All Progressives Congress (APC) that the former speaker is not their card carrying member despite dumping the PDP.

Zainabari said the party has a copy of Dogara’s resignation letter adding that he also campaigned vigorously for APC during the recent state assembly bye election held in his constituency where APC emerged victorious.

The PDP spokesperson noted that his party is aggrieved by Dogara’s resignation as it did not commit any offence to him that would justify his defection from it.

According to him, PDP has instituted a suit against Mr Dogara seeking a court to declare his seat vacant.

Zainabari alleged that Dogara was scared of the move and might have plotted the APC’s denial of his being their member.

Butressing his points further, Zainabari revealed that posters of the former speaker and the Bauchi state governor Bala Mohammed was allegedly printed and pasted at the party’s secretariat and other strategic places in the state capital to allegedly give an impression that the dou are still together.

“But we all know that Dogara has campaigned openly for APC in the recent assembly bye election in Dass local government. So, he is not a member of the PDP and we have a copy of his resignation letter from PDP”. He said.
