Domestic equity gains N97bn

Domestic equities yesterday opened week in a positive trend, gaining N97 billion .

Market capitalisation of listed equities expanded by 0.40 per cent to N25.907 trillion from N25.810 trillion reported the previous day.

The NGX All Share Index also appreciated by 214.49 basis points to 47565.92 points from 47351.43 points traded on Friday.

Investors traded 125.652 million shares valued at N1.902 billion in 4188 deals against 137.28 million shares cost N1.71 billion exchanged hands the previous day in 3845 deals.

A review of the investment showed that May and Baker Nigeria Plc led gainers table during the day, gaining 9.76 per cent to N4.05, Ikeja Hotel followed with a gain of 9.73 per cent to N1.24, BUA Cement gained 8.65 per cent to N56.50, Cornerstone Insurance gained 8.00 per cent to N0.54, Unity Bank added 7.32 per cent to N0.44.

UPL recorded the highest loss during the day, dropping by 8.54 per cent to N1.50, Cadbury Nigeria Plc trailed with a loss of 6.94 per cent to N11.40, FTNCocoa fell by 6.67 per cent to N0.28, Caverton dropped by 5.94 per cent to N0.95 while Cutix Plc dipped by 4.63 per cent to N2.06.
