Donate cash to Nyanya bomb blast victim – Akande

Leader of the House of Representatives, Hon. Mulikat Adeola Akande, yesterday led other female lawmakers to the National Hospital to see and donate cash gifts to the victims of Nyanya bomb blast.

The bomb blast, which claimed over 100 lives and injured over 200 people, occurred on the wee hours of Monday.
Speaking after going round the wards to see victims and to give them words of encouragement, Mulikat condemned the attack and urged Nigerians to join hands in fighting the insurgents by sharing information with security agents with a view to forestalling any re-occurrence.

The House Leader and her team commended the management of the hospital for its efficient handling of the emergency and treatment of the victims whom, noted, were responding to treatment since the incident happened.
She said: “The hospital has done very well in handling the situation, and from what we have seen, the patients are well cared for.

“I also commended security agents for promptly coming to the rescue of the abducted girls in Bornu. As you could see more than 90 of them have been rescued and we pray that the remaining eight would also be found soon.
“However, I am of the opinion that schools in those areas be shut down until we are able to quell the insurgent.”
During the visit, the House Leader and her colleagues made some cash donations of undisclosed amounts to each of the victims of the blast, as well as some patients who caught the sympathy of members within the Intensive Care Units of the hospital.
