Don’t be deceived, APC has failed – ADC candidate tells voters

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate for Ibadan North West/Ibadan South West Federal Constituency, Dr. Wasiu Adewale Olatubosun, has declared that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has failed the people of the state.

Olatubosun, who warned them to be wary of being deceived by the ruling APC to renew their mandate to its candidates in the 2019 general elections, said returning the APC means institutionalizing suffer.

The former chairman, Caretaker Committee in Ibadan North West Local Government Area, said that the APC has failed by making education from primary to tertiary, a money-making venture, thereby subjecting poverty-ridden public to untold hardship by commercializing all sectors and levels of education.

He said that the party by making education a money-making venture has contradicted free education programme which formed the fulcrum of APC campaign programmes.

The candidate added that with the non-payment of 12-26 months salaries of workers in tertiary institutions in the state, increment of LAUTECH school fees to N250,000 and introduction of education levies in secondary schools in the state, the APC has failed and should be voted out in the 2019 general elections.

“Beware of the failed APC continuity agenda, don’t be deceived by the ruling APC false claims of achievements as basis to renew the mandate of its candidates in the coming election.”

Olatubosun advised the people against falling for an attempt to hoodwink the people to fall prey to APC’s deceit as epitomised by Gov Abiola Ajimobi-led administration which failed to fulfill all electoral promises made to the people prior to the 2015 election.

“How best could one describe the high level of insensitivity of Ajimobi-led government for introducing education fees for pupils and students in primary and secondary schools in the state. Fees in the primary schools had hitherto been cancelled during the colonial era while that of the secondary schools students have been enjoying free tuition fees since the beginning of this Fourth Republic.

“The reintroduction of fees at both levels negates the ideas of progressivism as propagated and pioneered by Chief Obafemi Awolowo. Also, APC led government is the most insensitive and education-unfriendly government in the anal of history of Oyo state.

“The state never had it so bad that all workers of state-owned higher institutions are being owned between 12 to 26 months salaries. While the students of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECh) who were used to pay less than eighty thousand naira (N80,000) are now being compelled to pay as much as N250,000 putting it at per with private institutions thereby making it difficult for students from poor homes to have access to public tertiary education.”

Olatubosun chided the Governor Abiola Ajimobi government for allegedly impoverishing the poor by subjecting the poor people to unwarranted security levies apart from high levies collected from banks and all companies in the state.

“In its bid to continue subjecting the people of the state to untold hardships, arrangements have been concluded to increase and introduce more levies if people allow APC to continue in 2019,” he said.
