Don’t hijack registration exercise, Gov. Buni warns APC leaders

The Chairman of the National Caretaker Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Yobe state governor Mai Mala Buni, has warned party leaders at all levels not to hijack the revalidation and registration of new members starting from January 25.

Buni, who threatened to deal “decisively with anyone or group who attempt hijacking the exercise,” added that the party has adequate back up materials to ensure a successful exercise and no one is disenfranchised.

Speaking Wednesday at the party national secretariat when he inaugurated the National Committee for membership revalidation and registration exercise, the Yobe governor urged the committee to work as a team for every member to contribute his or her quota to the success of the assignment.

The committee is headed by the governor of Niger state, Abubakar Sani Bello and has former Senate President Ken Nnamani, Lawal Shuaibu, Osita Isunazo, Tijani Musa Tums, Rotimi Fashakin, Wale Aboderin, Stella Okotete, Hassan Abdullahi, Prof. Al-Mustapha Medaner as members, while Senator John Akpan Udoedehe as Secretary.

Buni said: “Let me make it abundantly clear that the party would not condone any act of sabotage of denying anyone or group of persons from registering. The party would deal decisively with anyone or group who attempt hijacking the exercise. Everyone must be allowed and given the chance to register.

“The party has adequate back up materials to ensure a successful exercise and no one is disenfranchised.”

The APC boss expressed confidence that at the end of the exercise the membership base of the party will be tripped.

“I am confident that at the end of the exercise, every member of the party would have the privilege of getting registered as an APC member, and to have a sense of belonging as a member of the party.

“I am very sure that our figures in the register would surge into quadruples or even more, to further prove that APC is indeed Nigeria’s largest and leading political party.”
