Don’t ‘kill’ media officers, FCT SWAN begs NFF

Chairman, Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, FCT Chapter, Comrade Kayode Adeniyi has beckoned on the leadership of Nigeria Football Federation to reconsider their stand on proposed exclusion of Journalists as media officers of various National teams.

In recent times, there have been move by the executive board members of NFF to stop attaching media representatives to age-grade teams except for Super Falcons and Eagles.

While reacting to the development when he led excos of Abuja SWAN on a courtesy visit to the Chairman NFF’s Technical and Development Chairman, Alhaji Ahmed Yusuf Fresh in Abuja, Adeniyi further explained that effort to do away with Media officers would have adverse effects on affected teams.

The Abuja SWAN leader however thanked Fresh for his support to Sports Writers and relentless effort which has contributed meaningfully to the activities of NFF and football in all nook and crannies of the country
Responding, newly appointed Technical Committee chairman alongside Chairman NFF’s Referees’ committee, Alhaji Rabiu Ahlan Inuwa expressed satisfaction with the watchdog role of the Nigeria sporting media and assured that the concerns raised would be reconsidered .

According to Fresh; “We will continue to support SWAN because we love what SWAN is doing. You see if you love the game and you have passion for it. God will definitely help you and prosper you.
He further affirmed; “Sometimes in March, we agreed to change all the media officer of the National teams and put a new reform but with your request now, I should go back to the board and we will look at it again so that it will not be only Super Eagles and Super falcons will have media officers but all other national teams.

“I will meet with chairman of Media and Publicity. Because it’s a tradition that all national teams should have media officer for the team to ease communicate to the outside world. I’m assuring you that we will do justice to that.”
