Don’t release any bailout fund to Gov Bello, Kogi PDP alerts CBN


The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kogi State Chapter has warned the management of the Central Bank of Nigeria not to release the N50 bn bailout allegedly demanded for by the state Governor Alhaji Yahaya Bello, saying his government has been rejected and would be voted out come November, 2019.

The PDP in a statement signed by the State Publicity Secretary, Bode Ogunmola, said the question begging for answer was how has the government of Alhaji Yahaya Bello utilized past funds released to him thus far.

The Kogi State PDP stated that the state was hugely indebted and is owing workers salaries for upward of 39 months after it has taken several loans from banks without any development to show for it.

According to the PDP,  ”Any attempt to compromise by the CBN, would be a great disservice to the suffering people of Kogi State.”

The party stated that the bailout itself is not a free fund, disclosed that the money is a loan that will be paid back over a period of time with 9% interest, warns that any government that prides itself in probity will ask questions of how past releases were utilized before committing Kogi State into further debt.

The statement saifwhile it is not against the payment of workers their entitlements, said it had earlier suggested that the CBN should initiates moves to probe past utilization of earlier releases and make arrangements to pay workers directly.

“It is apparent that any further release to Gov. Yahaya Bello would amount to a disservice to the poverty stricken workers of Kogi State” he said

The PDP asked the CBN to pay Kogi workers directly, stating that any attempt to release the balance of bailout to governor Bello, would amount to given him his pay off, because the government has been rejected and would be voted out? soon.
