DPR seals 13 filling stations in Sokoto

The Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) Sokoto/ Kebbi zone has sealed 13 filling stations in Sokoto.

Zonal Controller, Alhaji Mohammed Makera who disclosed this during a routine surveillance, said the stations were sealed for various malpractices.

The controller while briefing newsmen said the DPR team had visited

250 filling stations in Sokoto and 200 in Kebbi in the last one week.

He said six filling stations were sealed for under-delivery, five for operating  without valid DPR license while two did not have safety equipment.

Makera said, of the 13 sealed filling stations, 10 were in Sokoto while 3 were in Kebbi, adding that no filling station was found selling above the control price.

Alhaji Makera said he was happy to report that from the record, there was no fuel scarcity in both states from January to date.

His words: ”It is on record that from January to date Sokoto and

Kebbi have not witnessed fuel scarcity and that does not stop us from carrying out our routine surveillance to filling stations to ensure

the availability of the commodity being sold to motorists.

‘”I want to appeal on the members of the public, especially the motorists to always report any filling station selling the commodity above the control price or feel short changed through under delivery,” Makera urged.
