DPR seals 15 filling stations in Kogi

Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) yesterday closed down Mubhan Oil and Gas fi lling station in Okene local government area of Kogi state for operating without licence.
It also sealed 14 other filling stations in Okene and its environs for under- dispensing products to the public.
Leading the surveillance, the Head of Retail Outlet and Monitoring in the state, Mr.
Ibrahim Mijinyawa, lamented the attitude of some marketers “who take pleasure in shortchanging members of the public despite the availability of products.
” One of the filling stations, Wallybag Investments, was sealed for short-changing members of the public by 1.84 litres in every 10 litres sold, while NIPCO Filling Station was sealed for short-changing members of the public by 1.57 litres in every 10 litres sold to unsuspected customers.
Mijinyawa noted that the filling stations sealed for under dispensing would be made to pay fi ne of 100,000 per pump to the government in addition to adjusting their pumps correctly before their stations can be unsealed for operation.
The regulatory officer said the Station which was closed down would only be allowed to operate after regularising their papers with DPR, adding that the police in the area would keep eye on the station to ensure “it doesn’t operate.
” He warned petroleum marketers desist from sharp practices, adding that DPR surveillance team would continue to move round the state to ensure products “are dispensed to the public in the correct quantity and quality.
