The Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR), North-west Zonal office yesterday sealed eight filling stations in Kaduna for under dispensing and selling above pump price.
The DPR acting zonal operations controller and deputy manager/ head downstream monitoring and evaluation, Engr Yahaya Maishera, who disclosed this to energy correspondents in Kaduna yesterday, said there was enough fuel to serve the state during the yuletide and urged against panic buying, explaining that 13 trucks of petrol were distributed for Kaduna metropolis yesterday, unlike the 20 trucks distributed last week.
Engr Maishera said their teams went out to appraise the fuel situation within Kaduna metropolis, adding that lots of filling stations were selling the products but a few of them were hoarding and tampering with their dispensing pumps.
“Some were selling at N175 per liter, while some were selling as high as N190 per liter. Three to four teams have been going out for surveillance activities to ensure that marketers who have fuel sell to the general public.
“We realised that lots of the filling stations with products are selling to the public but some were hoarding the fuel, while some were found to have tampered with their dispensing pumps so were under dispensing. Stations found to be hoarding were forced to open up for sale and the ones under dispensing were forced to effect repairs or adjust their pumps accordingly. We warned marketers to abide by the rules and regulations guiding product supply and sales,” he said.
