DRTS moves against ‘one chance’ syndicates

The Area Commander, Directorate of Road Traffic Service (DRTS),
Asokoro Command, in Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Mr. Oloyede Mudashir, has disclosed that the Directorate would not fold its arms and allow one chance operators to continue to rob members of the public.
He said the Command was putting in place new ways of fighting the crime, and called on commercial drivers to obey FCT traffic rules and regulations.

The DRTS boss also called on them to operate with the approved Abuja-painted colour, saying that compliance would assist in no small measure in reducing the act as well as road carnages in the Territory.
He also warned commercial tricycle and motorcycle operators to restrict their movements to the suburbs, warning that “any person caught violating traffic rules and regulations would be made to face the full wrath of the law.”

He charged the motoring public to take advantage of the VIO computerised inspection centres for proper checks and maintenance of their vehicles.
Mudashir added that the Directorate had put in place measures to impound vehicles that were not road worthy with a view to inculcating positive driving culture into the minds of the motoring public across the Territory.
The Area Commander revealed that “at present the Command focuses on enlightenment campaigns to guide drivers to obey traffic rules and regulations at all times,” just as he enjoined motorists to always ensure that their vehicles were in good condition before using them.
