Drug war: We’ve arrested 37 dealers – Kano CP

Kano state police command has arrested 37 suspected drugs dealers in continuation of its raid on various criminal hideouts and black spots.

According to him, 616 suspects have already charged to court for prosecution.

Addressing journalists on the achievements of the command in Kano recently, the commissioner of police in the state, Wakili Mohammed, stated that the command had “arrested one Mohammed Sani of Mubi local government area in Adamawa state in possession of 6,750 locally made knives concealed in bags.”

He said the command also carried out raids at various black spots and criminal hideouts and apprehended suspected armed robbers, thugs, dealers of hard drugs and recovered large quantities of intoxicants, a pistol and other dangerous locally made weapons.

Reading the riot act to those “who can subvert the laws of the land with impunity, thinking that they can go scot free,” the commissioner said the command had no safe haven for criminals and their accomplices, and that it was the responsibility of the police to “safeguard lives and properties of citizens as enshrined in the constitution.”

He called on the general public to give useful information that could lead to the arrest of criminals to the command, saying “it is when such is done that the public could complement the effort of ridding Kano of undesirable elements.”
