DSS nabs man for gun running

The Department of State Security (DSS) in Bauchi have arrested and paraded one Bello Dakogol, 32, for alleged gun trafficking.
The DSS Spokesman in Bauchi, Mr. kabiru Abdusamad, said that the suspect was arrested with 15 AK47 rifles concealed in his car.
He said that the suspect, who hails from Kwalla village in Quan’pan Local Government Area of Plateau, was arrested on February 28, 2014, during a joint operation by the Army and police in the area.

He said that the suspect concealed the rifles in the doors and boot of his Toyota Solarar car with registration number AH 605 EKY.
Abdusamad said the suspect was travelling from Gambaru in Republic of Cameroon to deliver the arms to his customers in Jos.
He said that the department was working on intelligence reports on Dakogol’s criminal activities, adding that the suspect had confessed to delivering guns to many criminal gangs in the past.
Abdusamad said the suspect, “Confessed that he went to Gambaru to ferry the guns to Jos, and that this was his sixth trip and that he had delivered guns to several criminal gangs in Plateau.”

According to the spokesperson, Dakogol confessed he made five trips and delivered 47 rifles between July 2013 and February 2014.
Dakogol told journalists that he ferried guns from Gambaru through Borno, Bauchi and Plateau states without being arrested.
He said that he took to gun-running because he lost his job, and that he earned N100,000 per trip.
