DSS sues corps member for presenting self as judge

 

 

A 26-year-old serving corps member, Oluwatosin Iwalaye Medaiyese, was Wednesday arraigned before a Magistrate’s Court sitting in Osogbo, Osun state, for alleged false representation. 

The prosecutor from the Directorate of State Security (DSS) Olayinka Balogun, alleged that the defendant rpresented himself as Justice Aliyu Jimoh to the zonal coordinator of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Emmanuel Attah. 

“That you Oluwatosin lwalaiye Medaiyese “M” on or before 30th January, 2020 at Osogbo within Osogbo Magisterial District did falsely present yourself as Justice Aliyu Jimoh to Emmanuel Attah, South west zonal coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) with the intent of fraudulently securing the posting of corps members to their desired places of primary assignment and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 108 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol. II Laws of Osun state 2002″.

The defendant said he is serving in Kwara state and pleaded not guilty to the one count charge of false representation preferred against him. 

His counsel, Mr. O. O. Abifarin, prayed the court to grant his client bail in the most liberal terms, promising that he will not jump bail. 

Magistrate Adebola Ajanaku, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 and one surety who reside within the court jurisdiction. 

She adjourned the case to March 25, 2020 for hearing.
