Dutse varsity develops herbal anti-diabetes, cancer drugs

The Vice Chancellor, Federal University, Dutse, Prof Fatima Batul Muktar, has announced that the university has successfully developed the long awaited anti diabetic and anti cancer drugs currently being administered on patients as test.
Addressing journalists during the pre-convocation briefing yesterday in Dutse, the VC explained said he was delighted that one of the staff, Dr Salihu Ibrahim Ismail of the Biochemistry department, “developed a herbal anti diabetic and anti cancer drugs.”
According to her, “the anti diabetic drug has successfully passed pre-clinical stage and has gotten ethical approval for clinical trial by the Kano state hospital management board.”
He further disclosed that the clinical trial will commence at the Muhammad Abdullahi Wase Specialist Hospital, Kano soon, warning students using drugs or substance in the institution to desist or be ready to face the music.
On the coming convocation, the VC said the chancellor, Dr Shekarau Anygyu Masa Ibi Kuvyon II, the Aku Uka of Wukari, will be awarded honorary doctorate degree of the university.
He disclosed that, 427 students will be graduating with degrees in different disciplines, explaining that 54 of them have made first class, 223 second class upper division, 149 second class lower while one got third class.
