e-payment assists Katsina to fish out ghost workers – Masari

Katsina State government said the adoption of e-payment has assisted the present administration in the detection and delection of reasonable number of ghost – workers in the state. The state governor Aminu Bello Masari disclosed this yesterday at the opening of the 5th regular meeting of the National Council on Communication Technology (NCCT) held in Katsina. According to him, the state government has comprehensively developed e-payment system in the payment of salaried of LGA staff .

The governor, who was represented by his deputy, Alhaji Mannir Yakubu, said the present administration has taken strategic steps using ICT to sanitize payments. He said the payment of salaries to the state civil servant s has been computerized leading to authenticated payroll system as well as detection of ghost workers.

Masari said a data centre has been setup at the office of the Head of Service of the state with the assistance of SPARK, and that the state was determined to leverage on ICT to accomplish governance objectives, adding: “Th e state has already sponsored the training of 34 indigenes on basic certifi cate in ICT.” Th e governor said, Katsina is a pioneer benefi ciary with the ongoing establishment of ICT Incubation and Technology hub with the assistance of the Ministry of Communication and Technology.
