Ease process for Jos citizens to collect PVCs, JCDA urges INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), have been urged to devise simple ways for Nigerians to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).

President of Jasawa Community Development Association (JCDA), Shehu Ibrahim Masallah, made this remark on Sunday at the general congress of the association where they adopted their constitution.

“INEC has registered Nigerians, including members of our community, even at registration times it wasn’t as easy as it should be for the people to get registered because they have to traveled distance in our case before been registered,” he said.

Masallah said now that the cards were ready, it was also difficult for their people to get to the Jos North INEC Area office for collection.

“We were told by INEC that the cards would be brought to registration areas of each electoral ward, but it is not an easy way for almost everybody to get there to collect thier cards,” he said.

The JCDA President said the easy way to go is to bring the cards to each of the polling units, even if is for two weeks.

He called on the Hausa and Fulani people of Jos to also ensure that they get their PVCs.

“You cannot vote without voter card, therefore, I urge you all to ensure that you collected your voter card,” he appealed.

Highlight of the congress featured adoption of the JCDA constitution, new bye laws and road map to its general elections.

The chairman of Jos North LGC, Shehu Bala Usman, urged people of the LGA to always be peaceful and ensure they get their PVCs.

Represented by the deputy leader of the council councillors, Hon. Baba Ladan, the chairman assured JCDA of his council’s support.
