Easter: FG insensitive to Nigerians’ plight, cleric insists

The Senior Pastor of Calabarbased Warriors of Faith Christian Centre, Rev.
Victor Agor, has called on the federal government to stop being insensitive to the sufferings of Nigerians.
Agor, who made the call on Sunday in an Easter message titled “The Reason He Died” to commemorate the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, said government has what it takes to address economic woes the nation was currently witnessing, adding that “when government fails, suffering and bitterness increases.
” While charging the federal government to take proactive measures to enhance standard of living of ordinary Nigerians, the cleric lamented that although Easter was a period of sober reflection and joy over Jesus’ resurrection, many families were unable to key into the celebration mood due to hardship foisted on them by bad leadership.
“The truth is that government is very insensitive.
They do not understand the plight of the people.
In Nigeria, what affect the people does not affect the leaders because they do not care.
Our government should be very sensitive; Jesus gave a perfect example of leadership when He was physically on earth.
At times, He would ask His disciples whether the people have eaten and at times He multiplied food and shared among them.
That is why we need real Christians to contest in elections and mount the saddle,” he said.
Agor also charged Christians to emulate Christ in their lifestyle and behaviour, and lamented that people go to Church without the image of Christ being seen in them.
“A genuine Christian, not Church goer, is known by his fruits, and when the fruits are not exhibited in a Christian’s life, he becomes a church goer.
Such a one can sing and preach wonderfully but he is not a Christian.
It is so because it is the fruits of the spirit which qualify one as Christian.
” He charged Nigerians not to lose faith in the country, adding that “since God has already destined the country to be great, a time is indeed coming when the God’s glory would overshadow the country provided Nigerians would embrace the gospel and give God the opportunity to turn things around for the good of the country.”
