Ebira cultural heritage evolving – Runsewe

The Director-General of the National Council for Art and Culture (NCAC), Otumba Olusegun Runsewe has lauded the organisers of Ohueje Ohinoyi annual cultural festival which he said was evolving.

The festival took place at the palace of the Ohinoyi of Ebira land, Alh. (Dr.) Ado Ibrahim at the weekend, where he commended the organisers for sustaining this festival as a yearly event and enriching its content to the promotion of the cultural heritage of Ebira, adding that this has over the years brought together the sons and daughters of Ebira.

He expressed delight that if the array of cultural manifestations are carefully harnessed, Ebira land would be visible in the cultural calendar of not only Nigeria, but also Africa and beyond.

Otunba Runsewe noted that through this festival, the popular Echane masquerade festival, Ekuechi, Echehana woven clothes and delicious cuisine festivals can be rebranded to attract the world which would in turn create jobs for the people and serve as revenue generation source for the state government.

“As the apex federal government agency charged with the responsibility of preserving, promoting and marketing the best of Nigerian culture, we are ready to partner with the organizers of this great event by taking it to a greater height as the future of this this festival shows greatness,” he said.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the event, Alhaji Tijani Sheidu Adinoyi commended the leadership of the Ohinoyi of Ebira land, Alh. Dr. Ado Ibrahim for the support given to the event over the years, he also commiserated with him and the palace over the death of his son, Abdulrasheed Ado Ibrahim, praying Allah will give him fortitude to bear the loss.
