Ebonyi: 15 more killed, houses torched as Egwu sues for peace

The crisis between Effium and Ezza-Effium  in Ohaukwu local government area of Ebonyi  state has deepened as the senator  representing Ebonyi North senatorial zone, Dr. Sam Egwu called for peace among the parties.

Sources close to Blueprint, said as  of 7pm on Tuesday  many houses were set ablaze and  about 15 more persons killed in addition to more than 40 persons’ lives claimed in the clashes.

Senator Egwu in a press statement Tuesday condemned in totality the ongoing carnage and destruction of properties of innocent citizens in Effium community, Ohaukwu local government area of the state.

He applauded the state government for its efforts to stop the crisis and further called warring communities to end the trouble.

 “I condemn in strong terms the dastardly act and unwarranted killings that erupted between the people of Effium and Ezza Effium communities in Ohaukwu LGA of Ebonyi state,” the statement said.
