Ebonyi state college of Education Ikwo on Saturday matriculated not less than 230 students.
About 150 of them were admitted under NCE and 80 were admitted for degree programs in the college.
This was revealed at the 19th matriculation of the institution by Professor Benedict Chukwuma Mbam, provost College of Education.
The provost while addressing the students warned them to shun night activities, prostitution, and hooliganism in the school or face the wrath of law.
He advised them to be security conscious, avoid moving alone particularly when it is dark and shun bad friends that could lure them into cultism.
He equally emphasized that the students should focus on their academic activities and maintain the status which the institution has been built on.
According to him, the college has maintained and will continue to maintain a zero tolerance for all anti-social behaviours such as cultism, extermination malpractice, hooliganism, prostitution and other vices.
“Keep to the matriculation oaths and stay away from activities that will constitute threat to the peace of this noble institution of learning, as any manifestation of such activities shall be dealt with in accordance with the college rules and regulations”.
Earlier in a remark, professor Ogbonnaya Ogbu, member of the College governing council, urged the fresh students to avoid any act that would truncate their Education pointing that Education is the bed rock of every success in life.
Professor Ogbu pointed that for a graduate not to have job after graduation is based on his ability and performance during the academic period therefore the new intakes should bring out the best in them.
“Remember that your vision, inspiration to be a great person has started, work towards achieving your academic desire”, He said.
