Ebonyi commissioner tasks youth on opportunities

The Ebonyi state Commissioner for Project Monitoring and Evaluation, Chief Oluchukwu Ukie Ezeali, has urged youth to focus on the windows of opportunities created by the Engr. David Umahi-led administration “instead of joining enemies of progress in destroying infrastructure in the state under different guises.”

Ezeali said in a statement that at the helm of the #EndSARS protests, being a youth-friendly governor, Umahi was available at all flashpoints to assuage frayed nerves and dialogue with the young people, “reminding them of the numerous efforts of his administration to improve the living standards of the citizens of the states.”

He said: “The #EndSARS youth-led protests have raised salient issues that federal and state governments are speedily and dexterously working on addressing and such feedbacks are part of the gains of democracy and should be encouraged. I wish to re-emphasise to the young people of Ebonyi state that windows of opportunity have been made available by the Umahi Administration and should form the focus of their vision and energies for personal development, growth and enrichment.

“The government guaranteed CBN loan facilities for investments in agriculture is being accessed across the state by individuals and cooperatives engaged in small and medium scale agricultural production. The state has also equipped a faculty where young people can learn various in-high-demand skills for employability and self-employment.

“Similarly, jobs are being created daily across the three Industrial clusters in the different senatorial zones, as more businesses take advantage of the state of the art manufacturing hubs to set up large scale businesses. The state will launch a portal where job opportunities within the state will be advertised, with focus on prioritising applicants from Ebonyi.”
