Ebonyi killings: Senator wants FG shoot at sight order implemented

The Senator representing Ebonyi South Senatorial Zone, Dr Michael Ama Nnachi, Thursday urged Security agencies to implement the shoot at sight order of President Buhari in the crisis areas of the state.

Blueprint report that 25 persons at Nkalaha, Obegu, Amezu, Umuhuali, Egedegede communities in Ishielu local government area of the state were killed by suspected herders on Monday night.

Senator Nnachi in a statement condemned the killings and asked security agencies  to embrace the Presidential Order.

He said, “The scourge of Fulani Herdsmen has put Nigeria to a standstill as farmers crop and other agricultural inputs are being destroyed by herders marauding around the country to feed their cows, if drastic measures are not taken to contain the menace, it may lead to disintegration of Nigeria”.

He frowned at senseless killings going on in some parts of the state, charging the security agencies in Ebonyi state to live up to their civic responsibility which is protection of lives and properties.

“Security agencies should ensure that the culprits are apprehended and made to face the wrath of the law. They should intensify effort in ensuring that the rural dwellers are protected from further attack or any security breach.

” Security agencies should enforce the presidential order on shoot at sight on herdsmen carrying AK 47 Rifles to forestall future occurrence without fear and favour in order to safeguard the rural dwellers from this genocide been perpetrated by the herdsmen”.
