Ebonyi monarchs dissociate selves from protesters

The traditional rulers of Ezza North and Ezza South local government areas of Ebonyi state Monday washed their hands off the protesters over sitting of airport on their land.

The state government had chosen parts of the land between Onueke and Oriuzo  in both LGAs for the airport project.

The monarchs, who came out in their numbers were lead by His Royal Highness  Eze Charles Mkpuma  Burugbala 1 of Ezzama autonomous community, who also doubles as the Chairman Ebonyi state traditional council.

Eze Charles Mkpuma made the stand of the traditional rulers known  in a solidarity rally they made to Governor David Umahi  at the exco chambers Government House, Abakaliki.

He noted that the council would single out the protesters and their sponsors and would make them face the consequences of their actions.

“Those protesting against the sitting of airport in Oriuzo community are not from Ezza clan. This is because no reasonable person can object to development no matter what. It is foolishness to do such,” he said.

Governor Umahi while responding to the development, said work will commence at the said approved airport site by Wednesday next week.

He declared the readiness to pay full compensation to the affected persons whose land will be used for the airport, adding that he will equally relocate them to another place.
