Ebonyi: NYCN tackles police over ‘invasion’ of Umahi’s residence

The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has condemned the ‘invasion’ of the Abuja residence of the Ebonyi state Governor, Dave Umahi by men of the Nigerian Police Force.

The youths said the act was a calculated plan to plant incriminating weapons.

Addressing journalists in Abakaliki, Ebonyi state capital, national vice chairman South-east of the NYCN Elder Sam Igwe urged the police to disclose reason for the invasion of the residence of the governor.

“It is very unfortunate that the Abuja home of our dear Governor was raided. It is unfortunate that Nigeria has lost its image to negativism.

“The contribution of Engr. Chief David Nweze Umahi to the unity and development of this country should be highly respected. He has been at the forefront of the development, unity and progress of this country and he doesn’t deserve this type of embarrassment, attack and intimidation.

“This invasion is coming few days ago after he led other south-east Governors to a meeting where they took a stand on herdsmen; banning herdsmen with cutlasses and AK-47”, he said.
