Ebonyi PDP harmonises for March, April congresses

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Ebonyi state chapter has harmonised its structures for the state, local government and ward congress.

The congresses, which is to elect new leaderships of the party, are slated to hold on March 14th for ward, LGA  28th and state 11th April 2020, respectively.

Barrister Onyekachi Nwebonyi, Ebonyi state PDP chairman disclosed this after the State Executive Committee (SEC) meeting held over the weekend at the party’s secretariat, along Enugu/Abakaliki Expressway.

While political activities within the party has been on the top gear following  the recent approval for the congresses  as given by the Party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) at its 88th meeting.

Onyekachi noted that timetable and schedule of activities for the 2020 congresses as released by the NEC were already operational.

Further, he said the party ratified the primaries held recently in the state to elect councillorship and chairmanship candidates of the party for the forthcoming April local government area elections in the state. 

“The major issue is to ratify, which we have done, the primaries done to elect our councillorship and chairmanship candidates for the forthcoming Local government elections in the state.

“Moreso, is for us to put our house in order as we approach another set of congresses to elect the officers of the party, ranging from the Wards, the Local governments to the State, and of course, the zonal level. 

“Ward Congress is on 14th and LGA Congress is on 28th March while State Congress is on 11th April 2020

“And as a party, we believe in harmony; we believe in discussion, and we believe in understanding.

“So, we are taking measures that will ensure hitch-free primaries in electing officers who will run the affairs of the Party for the next 4 years.”

He further disclosed that the SEC during its meeting, also constituted a committee  to renovate the party’s secretariat complex which he described as a wonderful edifice built by the present leader of the party and governor of Ebonyi state, David Umahi,  during his tenure as state chairman of the party. 

The SEC meeting had the presence of Governor David Umahi, the party’s National Assembly members and the state, local government election aspirants and other stakeholders.
