Ebonyi: Umahi appoints aide on diaspora enlightenment, good conduct

Chief David Umahi, Governor of Ebonyi state has appointed Chief Collins Agbo as the Special Assistant (SA) on Diaspora with the main task of enlightening citizens outside the state on good conduct.

Agbo who will also serve as the SA on Ease of Doing business was sworn-in on Tuesday alongside Mrs Ngozi Obichukwu, who was appointed the SA on Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).

Umahi also inaugurated the board of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) headed by Dr Paul Onwe.

Umahi remarked that the SA on diaspora will travel round the country, meet Ebonyi citizens in their various locations and interact with them.

“You will know their problems, advise them on what government is doing at home and how to live well.

“You will advise them on how to stay out of trouble and how not to engage in fraudulent activities.

The governor also charged Agbo as the SA on ease of doing business, to domesticate the task as the citizens have not done well in such area.

“The SA on SDG still remains its focal person in the state and if you don’t get counterpart funding, think of what next to do.

“We will support you with small money instead of waiting for their endless funds to come.

He noted that his high number of appointments was to empower the people as initiated by the first civilian  governor of the state, Dr Sam Egwu.

“It is also to make our young ones know the art of governance and to serve as a catchment area to asses them.

“We are fighting poverty, creating employment and have to expose our people.

“I dont believe that you create employment in terms of civil servants, they will be idle doing nothing and you pay them N30, 000 which is what is used for recharge cards,”.

Chief Collins Agbo, the SA on Diaspora and Ease of Doing Business, thanked the governor for the appointment and pledged to justify the confidence reposed in him.
