Ebonyi: Umahi recalls retired health workers to fight coronavirus

Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi state Tuesday recalled all retired staff of the state health ministry to help fight coronavirus.

The governor, who ordered two weeks stay at home for civil servants from grade level 01 -10, excluded health workers.

Umahi, who gave the charge on Tuesday while briefing journalists in Abakaliki,  further ordered one Ebonyi man who travelled to China not to return to the state but rather isolate himself at the Lagos state isolation center.

It was however reported that the man who is a driver to Umahi’s aid travelled to China recently and insisted on coming back to the state after arriving Lagos.

Umahi during the briefing said, “From 25th of March 2020 to 14th of April, all civil servant from grade level 01-10 must stay off work but must be vigilant as they could be called to perform essential services any moment.

“Those on health and other essential services are hereby excluded. All retirees on health are hereby recalled at state and local government areas to help our medical team in our fight to protect our people.”
