ECWA president appeals to Gaidam on land

President of Evangelical Church Winning All in Nigeria (ECWA) and the Diaspora, Rev. Jeremiah M. Gado, has commended Governor Ibrahim Gaidam of Yobe state for promoting peace and unity among the various ethnic and religious groups in the state. “I want to sincerely thank your Excellency for striving hard to promote peace and unity among the various ethnic and religious divides in the state. Without peace and unity, there can never be a meaningful development anywhere,” he said. Gado said this yesterday during a visit to the governor at the Government House, Damaturu, to commiserate with him, the government and people of Yobe

over the recent security challenges occasioned by Boko Haram terrorists. “As a father of the state, I know all these evils have given you serious concern.” Th e ECWA president used the opportunity to solicit the government to intervene in a matter regarding a piece of land in Gashua town, in which there was disagreement between ECWA and people of the community. Responding, Governor Gaidam expressed gratitude to the ECWA President for the visit and his prayers over the situation in the state.

“It is also gratifying for me to note that the aim of your visit to our state is in recognition of our leadership qualities and good governance which has enabled us to deliver dividends of democracy to our citizens covering all sectors. Above all, it is a further recognition to promote harmonious co-existence and unity in our beloved state. “Th us, we shall not relent in eff orts in addressing the problem facing our state headlong,” he said. On the issue of land, the governor said he would liaise with the Commissioner of Justice to understand the legal status of the Gashua case which had been fi led in court, adding that “government is disposed to amicable settlement of the case.”
