Edo 2020: Anambra FA board donates football kits to camping female team, drops promises

As preparation for the 2020 National Sports Festival gathers momentum, the board members of Anambra State Football Association (ANSFA) have donated training materials to the state female teams camping at Otuocha Sports Stadium.

Among the materials donated by Mr Victor Aniekwena led ANSFA  were 4 sets of bibs, 15 footballs, cones, first aid boxes, manual football pumps, branded MyAnambra football jerseys and packets of bottled water.

Addressing the team, a member of the board and Ex-Rangers International, Prince Oliver Ndigwe explained  that the visit was to encourage, support and show solidarity to the female side as they prepare for the 20th National Sports Festival (NSF) holding at Edo state.

 Ndigwe, who assured that the board would gift the team the sum of N300,000 if they win the gold medal, N200,000 for Silver and N100,000 for bronze medal, explained that ANSFA board was working on a viable and dynamic programme to enhance the state of female football in the state.
On her part,  another member of the board and a retired Grade I referee, Cordelia Akanna admonished the girls to go for gold medal, which according to her, was capable if they remain focused, discipline and obedience to the constituted authorities while on the national assignment.

Also speaking, the Anambra FA female football ambassador and former Assistant Coach of Super Falcons, Maureen Mmadu, tasked the players on dedication, commitment and proper time management, virtues she assured would enable them to fulfil their dreams in football.

Speaking on behalf of Local Football Council (LFC), the Chairman of Dunukofia LGA LFC, Engr. Okey Okeke, advocated for team work, urging the skipper of side to be a good leader at all times motivating the girls to achieve success.

Responding, Head Coach of the team, Emeka Ugwu, extolled the ANSFA board for their support, reiterating that it was a moral booster, even as he assured that the team would try its possible best to make Anambra state proud.

Blueprint reports that the ANSFA board were led to the event by the Secretary of the board, Mr Chijioke Onyedika, and Local Football Council chairmen/vice chairmen from Idemili North, Idemili South, Awka South, Awka North, Dunukofia, Njikoka, Anambra East, Onitsha North and Ayamelum.
