Edo 2020: Controversy over alleged Kenyan’s participation

Controversy erupted at the 20th National Sports Festival (NSF) following protest by Adamu Shehu Muazu, a 10,000m athlete from Plateau state who alleged that a Kenyan represented Bayelsa state in the marathon race at the weekend.

Already, Muazu has asked the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) to disqualify the Kenyan.

The said Kenyan whose name and identity were withheld from the press came first in the 10,000m race men’s final.

Speaking shortly after he came third in his race, Muazu said, “The Kenyan athlete needs to be disqualified. The sanctity of the festival should be upheld since its a national event that does not have any international bearing on its label.”

Technical director of the AFN Brown Ebewele popularly known as the juju man said they were aware of the kenyan athlete, and that any athlete who is not pleased with the decision to let the foreigner represent Bayelsa state should file in a protest
