Edo APC declares fasting, prayers over internal crisis

Worried over recent bombings, apparently for political reasons in the state, the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo has declared Friday, February 20 as fasting and prayer for God’s intervention.

The party urged members to comply with the exercise starting “from dawn till 12.00 noon and beyond in order for peace to reign in the state and the country Nigeria.”

Spokesman for the APC, Pastor Joseph Osagiede, who disclosed this to journalists on Thursday said: “God has laid it in my heart as his servant at this point, and I decided to call for this prayer.”

Osagiede, who disclosed that “the state governorship tussle is not worth the blood of anybody” said there  won’t be any gathering or meeting for the prayers, directing party faithful to pray in their closet, adding that “in fact, prayers are effective  when you pray in your closet.”

The party spokesman  also said the exercise  would be used to thank God for giving the state  “a “corrupt-free , articulate and masses-oriented governor whose development strides are visible to all and sundry, even the trouble-makers.”

According to him, “No one has accused him (Obaseki) of corruption. Let us therefore commit him and his deputy to the hands of the Most High God for protection and divine wisdom to fulfill the mandate freely given them by Edo people.”
