Edo: APC moves against absentee members-elect

The All Progressives Congress Party (APC), Ovia North East Chapter has decried continued absent of members-elect from the area to represent themselves at the State House of Assembly.

The party said the two members-elect, Vincent Uwadiae and Dumez Ugiagbe, have refused to present themselves to be sworn-in as members of Edo State House of Assembly.

Uwadiae and Ugiagbe had hinged their refusal to be sworn-in  on the inauguration of nine members-elect  on June 21 during which Frank Okiye emerged speaker.

In an enlarged meeting of the party members across the 13 wards in the council, the party leaders said the absent of the two representatives have created vacuum in the development of the local government area.

They therefore ordered the two members-elect, to resume plenary on October 21, 2019  to avoid consequential actions.

Chairman of the party in the area, Ambassador Etinosa Ighodaro, said the party had earlier sent letters to the two members-elect to explain their refusal to be sworn in,  adding that the letters were not responded to.

Ighodaro also stated, “with the absent of the members, Ovia North East no longer have any one to present their matter before the House.

“Other Constituencies are being represented by their honorable members who were elected the same time with our own.

“What offence has Ovia North East committed that they will not have members representing them in the House.

“We call on our members-elect to immediately present themselves for swearing in the House.

“We cannot afford to lose out in the present developmental stride of the States government,” he said.
