Seven suspects; including two traditional rulers have been arrested in connection with Igueben train station attack in Edo State.
The State Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, Mr. Chris Nehikare, disclosed this to journalists in Benin City on Wednesday.
He stated the suspects are currently helping the police in investigations.
Nehikare also said the two remaining victims of the attack have been rescued by security personnel.
According to him, “As I speak today, all the Igueben kidnapped victims have been rescued”.
On January 7, gunmen invaded Igueben train station and abducted 20 persons.
In another development, Nehikare decried the outbreak of Lassa fever in four local government areas of Edo State.
He said the state has written to the federal ministry of health and Nigeria Center for Disease and Control (NCDC) seeking help to compliment the State government’s efforts and didn’t get response.
The Commissioner called on international agencies to come to the aide of the State because according to him, “we had 5 percent mortality”.
On whether Dr. Osagie Ehanire, the minister of health is aware of the outbreak, Nehikare said: “he (Ehanire) is from Edo, we have written to the Ministry and we didn’t get any response”.
