Edo: Hoodlums set council secretariat, police stations ablaze

Suspected hoodlums have hijacked the #EndSARS protest in Edo state – setting two divisional police stations on fire.
The police stations hit by the attackers include Saint Saviour and Ugbekun Divisions respectively- both in Upper Sakponba road, Ikpoba-Okha local government area of the state.

Blueprint gathered that both security facilities were simultaneously attacked by the criminals.
Part of the building of the local government secretariat at Idogbo, Ikpoba-Okha local government was also reportedly touched by the group.

Hoodlums have been on rampage in the Benin metropolis since last Friday- touching private property and dispossessing victims of their valuables.

On Monday, the hoodlums were said to have gained access to the stations after overpowering few operatives on duty.
A witness who craved anonymity said: “This area (Upper Sakponba road) is no go for now. But my joy is that the inmates were released before the boys set the stations on fire”.

Concerned Nigerian citizens in states across the country are currently protesting alleged  brutality and extortions by operatives of the dissolved Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS)- a unit of the police.
The state police spokesman, DSP Chidi Nwabuzor could not be reached for comment at the time of filing this report.
