Edo: Ize-Iyamu in dilemma as Obudu, other guber aspirants make dramatic u-turn

The candidacy in the Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu in the September governorship poll by Adams Oshiomhole’s faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has reportedly suffered setback as aspirants who had stepped down for the Cleric have reportedly made a U-turn and purchased the party’s Expression of Interest form.

The aspirants are ex-deputy governor of the state, Dr. Pius Odubu, and former Minister of Works for State, Engr. Chris Ogiemwonyi.

This was just as another ally of the faction, Mr. Osaro Obaze, has reportedly indicated his interest to contest the All Progressives Congress (APC) Primary billed for June 22.

As at press time on Monday, the aspirants were yet to give reasons for their decision to rejoin the guber race having earlier stepped down in a bid to form a united front against governor Godwin Obaseki reelection.

Blueprint  however  gathered that the development may be a fallout of the meeting between the Progressives Governors Forum (PGF) led by Governor Abubakar Bagudu of Kebbi state to the National Leader of the APC, Bola Tinubu, in Lagos.

A source close to the Oshiomhole’s faction of the APC said: “It may have happened that Pastor Ize-Iyamu may have not really been a favoured candidate as has been canvassed all along.

“The meeting with Tinubu may have put a lie to Pastor Ize-Iyamu’s grandstanding. So, we are very wary of what might happen in the coming days. This is surely the end of the EPM as we know it,” the source stated.
