Edo: Kidnapped APC Chairman escapes from abductors’ den

The chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ugu ward 9,

Orhionmwon Local Government Area of Edo state, Mr. Godwin Aigbogun, has reportedly escaped from his kidnappers’ den.

A relative of the politician told Blueprint that he (Aigbogun) returned home late Tuesday night, adding that “he is now reuniting with his family”.

The relative quoted the APC Chairman as saying, “I sneaked away when my abductors went out on a mission, apparently to kidnap other victims, while few others guarding their camp were busy discussing”.

Aigbogun, 55, was reportedly abducted by gunmen on Monday while returning from his farm at Ologbo-nugu community.

His abductors were said to have demanded N5 million ransom.

Spokesman for Edo State police command, Chidi Nwabuzor had confirmed the incident, and added that police operatives were deployed to the bush to “rescue the victim unhurt and possibly arrest the kidnappers”.

However, the spokesman was yet to be reached for comment on the reported escape of the victim from his abductors’ den as at the time of filing this report.
