It was a case of double tragedy for the family of Dupe Idahor in Edo state after gunmen shot one Dupe Idahor, 44, dead during his late mother’s funeral.
Blueprint gathered that the shooting forced family members to abandon the corpse of their 82-year-old mother, Mrs. Taiwo Albert, who was laid-in-state at the time the gunmen struck.
The incident occurred at House No. 2, 4th Nosayaba Lane, off TV Road in Benin City, the state capital.
The victim was said to be under a canopy with friends and relatives when the gunmen arrived in a car, accosted and opened fire at him.
Younger sister of the deceased who simply identified herself as Tracy said their late mother, Deaconess Taiwo Albert, was eventually laid to rest hours later.
She alleged that his brother’s death was a set up by one of his friends who, she claimed, was with the deceased during the shooting.
The state police spokesman, DSP Chidi Nwanbuzor, could not be reached for comment on the incident at the time of filing in this report.
