Edo: NDE trains 100 youths in agricultural development


The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has commenced training of  100 youths in Edo state under the Sustainable Agricultural Development Training Scheme (SADTS). 

The acting Director General of NDE, Mallam Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo. said  SADTS was aimed at enhancing the Rural Employment  promotion Programme of the Directorate in Edo.

Fikpo who was represented by Mrs. Ayo Edegbai, the state coordinator said the training was expected to last for three months, adding that stipends would also be paid to the trainees.

According to him, in Edo state, over 7,652 persons have benefited from the Rural Employment Programme (REP), while over 150,000 persons have benefited generally from NDE programmes and Schemes.

The DG said: “eminent resource persons would deliver the training, adding that on completion, the participants would set up and run, manage Agricultural businesses of their own.

He said the initiative was a unique programme because “it is a further proof that the Federal Government through NDE is fully committed to its drive towards job creation and reduction of poverty.”
