Edo: Police nab 7 females, 27 others for cultism

Police operatives in Edo State have arrested 30 suspected cultists in its ongoing onslaught on cult related activities.

The suspects, seven females and 27 males were said to be members of notorious Eiye and Jurists confraternity groups.

The State Police spokesman, SP. Chidi Nwabuzor, said the suspects were picked up during a raid on criminal hideouts in Siluko and new Benin areas in Benin City, the state capital.

Chidi who paraded the suspects before journalists in Benin City said the suspects had confessed to the crime.

The police spokesman quoted Mr. Abutu Yaro, the State Commissioner of police as saying: “the campaign against criminal elements and cultism has yielded results”.

According to the CP, “the arrest will serve as warning for other cultists to renounce or vacate the State.

“The onslaught is ongoing, and it is a continuous one.”
