Education dev’t: Yobe govt goes grassroots in search of solution



Yobe state government has said it would adopt bottom-up approach to upgrade the standard of education in the state, days after declaring state of emergency on both primary and secondary levels of education.


Governor Mai Mala Buni represented by his deputy, Idi Barde Gubana
disclosed this Wednesday at the opening ceremony of meeting with Local government chairmen, education secretaries, selected principals
among other stakeholders in Damaturu.

Buni, said the meeting was organized to identify problems of basic
education and work towards addressing them.

“This meeting is informed by the fact on the occasion of our inauguration and swearing-in ceremony on 29th May, 2019, I made a policy statement declaring State of Emergency in Basic and Secondary education in our state.

“The noble objective was to lofty initiative to enable us build a solid, vibrant and robust foundation for the development of education and revitalize it to address emerging challenges” he said.

The governor also said, to further achieve the desired objectives apart from the meeting, machinery have been put in place for the convening of Education Summit in July 2019 where stakeholders and groups could key in, to proffer solutions toward moving the education sector.

While commending the efforts of his predecessor, the governor further
said he felt there were still some challenges that need to be addressed
in the education sector.
