EFCC docks Taraba lawmaker, 2 council bosses for N104m


The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Gombe zonal office, has arraigned a member of the Taraba State House of Assemble, Jedua Ahmed Dawud, alongside Chairmen of Sardauna and Kurmi Local Government Areas, respectively, Oliver Wubon and Joseph Danladi John, for N104 million fraud.


A press statement by the EFCC Head, Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, Monday in Abuja, said the trio were arraigned before Justice F. Agya of Taraba State High Court on a six-count charge bordering on conspiracy, criminal breach of trust and forgery.
He said they allegedly stole  N104, 200 million meant for capital projects in the local government area, while the second and third defendant held the positions of Chairman and Director of Finance of the local government area, respectively.


Oyewale said they all pleaded not guilty to the charges and in view of their plea the Prosecution Counsel, Abubakar Aliyu, applied for a trial date.
He said Justice Agya granted bail to the defendants in the sum of N2 million and one surety each, who must either be a Taraba State House of Assembly member, Commissioner in State Executive Council or Permanent Secretary.
Each surety must swear to an affidavit of means of livelihood and deposit their two recent passport photographs, the Judge further stated.
The spokesperson said the case was adjourned till July, 29 and 30, 2020 for hearing.
