EFCC frees Atiku’s son-in-law, detains PDP’s lead counsel

Babalele Abdullahi, son-in-law to the Presidential candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Atiku Abubakar during February 23, 2019 election has been reportedly released by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Abdullahi is also the finance director of some companies owned by Atiku.

He was arrested on Saturday and released after the anti-graft agency invited Tanimu Turaki, a senior advocate of Nigeria (SAN) leading the defense team of Atiku, to sign a bail document for him.

But the commission detained Turaki, who is also deputy director-general of the PDP Presidential Campaign Organisation.

EFCC spokesman, Tony Orilade confirmed his arrest on Tuesday but did not give details, according to TheCable.

Detained Turaki was meant to lead his party to start court proceeding on Tuesday, but was arrested on Monday evening.
