EFCC secures 20 convictions in Gombe in 6 months

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Gombe state zonal office, has secured convictions of 20 persons from January to July this year.
Head of Operation, Gombe zonal office, Mr. Johnson Babalola, disclosed this while speaking with journalists during the Road Walk Against Corruption, organised to commemorate the African AntiCorruption Day with the theme “Winning the Fight Against Corruption,” held in Gombe yesterday.
He said the Judiciary has been supportive of the commission’s effort to fight corruption at the zone.
The head of operation said the national headquarters has also secured 142 convictions between January to July this year, noting that Nigeria has one of the most extensive and deeply entrenched cultures of corruption on the African continent.
“We are determined to win the corruption war, no matter how long it would take to which the commission has traced and recovered illicit funds as well as properties worth billions of Dollars, he explained.
He emphasised that the fight against corruption could not be won by EFCC alone; and therefore solicited the support and cooperation of all Nigerians, justices and the entire bench in the temple of justice
