EFCC: Youth endorses CP AbdulRahman, Chiroma as Magu’s replacement

Following the suspension of acting Chairman of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu, on corruption charges, Nigerian Youth Forum have called for brilliant, committed and upright police officers as his replacement.
Speaking under the auspices of Unified Nigerian Youth Forum, President of the Forum, Comrade Abdulsalam Kazeem, said that Magu has done lots of damage to the Commission and there is need for whoever would replace him to be someone with trusted integrity who can do the tedious work of repairing the image of the Commission.

“The suspension of Mr Ibrahim Magu has vindicated the 8th National Assembly and the Department of State Security Services (DSS) over his person and character. Magu, claimed to be a saint and a no nonsense anti-corruption czar and the authorities entrusted him with the task of fighting corruption, only for us to discover that he is only occupying the office to fight for his personal pocket.

“Mr President has had enough betrayal from his cabinet and that of Mr Ibrahim Magu is of the highest order. So, Mr  President must be very careful on how and who to appoint to help fight corruption in Nigerian. We are aware that the presidency has penciled down the names of over seven senior police officers both serving and retired.

“As a group, we appeal to the President to appoint the next EFCC boss based on merit and not favoritism. Someone who can repair the  battered image of the Commission is urgently needed. We hope and pray that the President will consider the likes of the current Commissioner of Police of Enugu state, CP Ahmed Abdurahman, CP Bala Chiroma of FCT Command and many such brilliant, committed and patriotic Nigerians who can do the job.
“It’s not a hidden fact that among those penciled down by the presidency,  there are those who available records show that they are of questionable characters and Nigerians know them, because of their antecedents and the atrocities they committed in public service.

“So, the President should not risk the Commission at any rate over any personal interest, the interest of Nigerians first and what we ask for; is a fearless EFCC boss who can help Mr President to achieve his anti-corruption crusade. This time Nigerians may not accept any excuses for whatsoever reason.
“The Unified Nigerian Youth Forum salutes the courage of the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice Mr Abubakar Malami (SAN) for the memo he wrote to the President over the embattled Ag. Chairman of the EFCC.
“We equally appeal to him to write such memo on services chiefs maybe Mr President will consider his position, just as he did on that of Magu, the series of calls for their immediate removal over non performance despite high budgetary allocations has nothing to do with politics, but with patriotism, commitment and service delivery to the nation.”
